Proteomics and Systems Biology

Our research lab specializes in developing mass spectrometry-based proteomics and systems biology tools to study biological processes important for human health, including inflammation, host immunity, and the microbiome.  This technology allows us to monitor thousands of molecules simultaneously to understand biological mechanisms important for disease.

Microbiome

The human microbiome, comprised of trillions of organisms that live within us, plays a large role in health and disease.  It has been associated with many diseases including diabetes, inflammatory bowel disease, colitis, and susceptibility to infectious disease. Our lab studies functional properties of the microbiome to understand its role in host immunity, with a focus on HIV/AIDS.

Bioinformatics

Our team includes expertise in bioinformatics, statistics, and computational approaches to interpret large-scale 'omic datasets, with a focus on those generated by mass spectrometry.
